US envoy alarmed by successive poll violence in RP (7:25 p.m.)

MANILA -- US Ambassador Kristie Kenney expressed concern over the increasing number of election-related violence in the country, hoping that the upcoming May elections would still be peaceful and orderly.

Kenny also revealed that the US Embassy in Manila would be sending out teams to observe the conduct of the elections "to see how the voting goes and like we all do to learn more and to watch our Filipino friends as they exercise their democratic rights."

She said this is her first election year in the Philippines, as an ambassador, and she is watching the elections much interest.

She said it is only sad that there are reported violence that is associated with the elections. (Sunnex)
