2 killed, more than 30 wounded in bomb explosion in southern RP (6:30 p.m.)

MANILA -- A homemade bomb went off near a market in a southern Philippine city Tuesday, killing two people and wounding more than 30 others, police and officials said.

The blast occurred close to a restaurant where election officials, candidates and military officers were meeting ahead of May 14 balloting.

Representative Teng Mangudadatu told DXMS radio in Cotabato city that two people were killed and at least 33 were wounded.

Provincial police chief Superintendent Teng Tocao said no one has claimed responsibility for the blast. (AP)
