It's still 8-2-2 for opposition in Senate race
MANILA -- Eight Genuine Opposition (GO), two Team Unity (TU), and two independent candidates keep their places in the top 12 of the Senate race in both official and unofficial tallies as of Wednesday afternoon.
Loren Legarda of GO topped both the Commission on Elections (Comelec) tally with 13,001,677 votes and the National Citizens' Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) count with 10,708,904 votes as of Wednesday afternoon.

Following Legarda in the Comelec partial tally was her party mate Francis Escudero with 12,885,824 votes.
Two other opposition bets, Panfilo Lacson and Manuel Villar Jr., occupied the third and fourth spots with 10,864,539 and 10,808,729 votes, respectively.
Independent candidate Francis Pangilinan ranked fifth with 10,296,830 votes followed by Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III with 10,048,522 votes.
At seventh was administration candidate Edgardo Angara with 8,652,776 votes. Alan Peter Cayetano (GO) followed him with 8,245,963 votes.
Joker Arroyo also from TU was at ninth with 8,192,044 votes. Another independent candidate Gregorio Honasan came next at 10th with 8,086,144 votes.
Also making it to "Magic 12" were GO candidates Antonio Trillanes, at 11th with 7,812,041 votes, and Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, at 12th with 7,461,886 votes.
In 13th, 14th and 15th place were Juan Miguel Zubiri with 7,457,809 votes, Ralph Recto with 7,414,226 votes, and Michael Defensor with 6,813,393 votes.
In the Namfrel quick count as of 4:46 p.m. Wednesday, Escudero followed Legarda with his 10,447,254 votes; Lacson with 9,181,156 votes; and Villar with 8,888,061 votes.
Pangilinan was fifth with 8,517,069 votes while Aquino was at sixth place with 8,358,468 votes.
In seventh place was Angara with 7,509,329 votes. Honasan was next with 6,897,847 votes.
Completing the top 12 were Arroyo with 6,824,506 votes; Cayetano with 6,743,200 votes; Trillanes with 6,511,771 votes; and Pimentel with 6,438,964 votes. (Hannah Oliva/Bernadith Abonita-UST interns/Sunnex)
