Lanao Norte completes Iligan canvassing By Richel V. Umel Lanao Correspondent
ILIGAN CITY -- The Provincial Board of Canvassers in Lanao del Norte finished canvassing the Certificates of Canvass (COCs) of Iligan City as of 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Lawyer Chuvasco Cenen Caiña, the Philippine National Police, lawyers of both parties of Lakas-CMD, United Opposition, and Namfrel, along with soldiers, successfully transported the COCs despite a bloody riot with protesters at Iligan City legislative building.

Based on partial and official results, 1st district congressional candidate Vicente Belmonte of the United Opposition garnered 52,783 votes.
His closest rivals Angelique Nikki Badelles of Kampi got 39,315 votes while outgoing Governor Imelda Quibranza Dimaporo of Lakas-CMD got 35,150 votes.
The Provincial Board of Canvassers led by lawyer Joseph Hamilton Cuevas proclaimed Tuesday afternoon Mohammad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo of Lakas-CMD as the new provincial governor with 98,492 votes against Raphael Rizalda of United Opposition with 31, 956 votes.
For vice governor, Irma Umpa Ali of Lakas-CMD garnered 84,622 votes against Usop Omar of the United Opposition with 36,385 votes.
In the second congressional district of Lanao del Norte, reelectionist lawmaker Abdullah Dimaporo of Lakas-CMD got 96,087 votes against Abdullah Dabs Mangotara of the United Opposition with 35, 647 votes.
The above vote figures were taken from the results of Iligan COC and the four municipalities of Linamon, Kolambugan, Tubod and Baroy while the ballot boxes, which contained the COCs of Bacolod, Maigo, and Kauswagan were not yet canvassed, sources said.
