Nulud was sitting in front of his house at 9 a.m. Monday when the killers, on board a Honda Wave motorcycle, fired at him using a caliber .45 pistol. Doctors at the Diosdado Macapagal Hospital in Guagua declared the victim dead on arrival.
Prior to his death, Nulud, who was once an ally of Pampanga Board Member Lilia Pineda, ran for councilor but lost in the last elections.
He supported the candidacy of Panlilio in the gubernatorial race.
He was last seen during Sunday's victory party of Panlilio at the Betis gymnasium in Guagua.
Pampanga Police Provincial Director Keith Singian ordered a speedy investigation into the killing of Nulud. He ruled out politics as a motive.
Businessmen in Pampanga expressed concern over the effects of the killing of Nulud on the province's investment climate.
Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham) president Rene Romero, in a press statement, condemned Nulud's murder.
The killing came several days after the holding of mid-term elections in the country, in which Pampanga etched a reputation of being able to hold peaceful, orderly, and credible elections.
Romero said the incident does not speak well of the province that is being groomed to become one of North Luzon's investment hubs.
"While we have made an impressive showing in the elections as a province, this incident undermines our area's reputation as an investment-friendly province. This may cause undue setback to our dream of becoming the investment destination in Southeast Asia," he said.
He asked the police to solve the case soon to prevent a repeat of the incident. (MHD & ABL of Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
