30 rebels hit town police precinct (8:30 p.m.)

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Clad in police uniforms, communist insurgents attacked a police station in Dangcagan town in Bukidnon Sunday, killing a policeman and forcing others to scamper.

Around 30 rebels onboard two vans opened fire at the lowly-guarded police station at around 2 p.m. and killed Police Officer Danilo Noblefranca.

Two other policemen who were in the station when it was raided scampered for safety, said a police officer who requested anonymity because he lacked clearance to speak to the media.

It was learned that Police Station Chief Henry Pañares was not around when the attack took place. (DVA/IE /Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro)
