Probe sought against Monsod, Task Force Mapalad (9:51 a.m.) By Ma. Ester L. Espina and Nicolas C. Delfin
BACOLOD CITY – A people’s group calls on authorities to investigate Task Force Mapalad and their legal counsel, Christian Monsod for the death of two Mapalad farmer beneficiaries early this month in Hacienda Velez-Malaga.
In a press conference, people’s organization, Alab Katipunan chairperson, Ben Solilapsi, slammed TFM and called on the police to investigate the organization for “possibly inviting and instigating violence which lead to the death of their two members.”
Solilapsi also denounced constitutionalist Christian Monsod saying, “he must be held accountable for the farmers’ death.”
Eli Tupas and Alejandro Garcesa died of gunshot wounds inflicted by the security guards of Cornerstone Agency who were assigned at Hacienda Malaga. Six others were wounded in the incident.
Asked for his opinion on AK’s statement, Negros Occidental Governor Joseph Maranon agreed saying it is better to have everyone involved investigated thoroughly.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Director Rosendo Franco, however, said that a formal complaint should be filed first before they will react on their allegation.(Sun.Star Bacolod) |
