Another blast hits La Union (6:10 p.m.)

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 Director Leopoldo Bataoil has ordered an intensified security alert within the city following an explosion at Talavera Street in Barangay 1 here on Wednesday morning that injured one person.

Hipolito Aragon, 59, was traversing Talavera Street when the explosion hit him at 11 a.m. Wednesday. He was rushed to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center based in the city after sustaining shrapnel wounds.

Doctors in the hospital already declared Aragon out of danger.

Bataoil said he dispatched a bomb squad to the explosion site to look into the blast, which also partially damaged the house of lawyer Angelito Grande. (LCMY/Sunnex)
