Bedol may be apprehended this weekend (9:54 a.m.)
MANILA -- Fugitive provincial election supervisor (PES) Lintang Bedol is facing possible arrest any day now.
This, after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc on Friday issued a resolution ordering his arrest
“We have promulgated the resolution,” said Commission Nicodemo Ferrer said. Ferrer heads the Task Force Maguindanao, which is looking into election fraud that occurred in Maguindanao province.
The four-page resolution specified the violations committed by Bedol, both criminal and administrative. “We have put there his violations under the civil
service law and if he found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of termination from public office,” Ferrer said.
Ferrer said if Bedol is found guilty of the offenses he is accused of, the election official will be imprisoned for six months to six years.
Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos said he received calls from Bedol Thursday confirming his attendance for the hearing on Friday but no Bedol showed up. (MSN/Sunnex) |
