Bomb scare causes traffic jam (5:11 p.m.)
By Carlo P. Mallo

DAVAO CITY -- Traffic snarled up along the highway in Puan, this city, Saturday afternoon as law enforcers evacuated and searched a bus alleged to have a bomb set out to explode soon.

Task Force Davao commander, Colonel Alan Luga declared the bomb scare as a false alarm shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Weena Bus, which was on its way to the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal in Matina, was cordoned off, its passengers led out by combined elements from the Philippine National Police, Task Force Davao, and 911 Emergency Response as soon as the city received information that the bus was rigged with a bomb.

The Special Anti-Terrorism Unit of the Davao City Police Office made a clean sweep of the bus with bomb sniffing dogs but failed to find anything explosive. (Sun.Star Davao)
