The Weena Bus, which was on its way to the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal in Matina, was cordoned off, its passengers led out by combined elements from the Philippine National Police, Task Force Davao, and 911 Emergency Response as soon as the city received information that the bus was rigged with a bomb.
The Special Anti-Terrorism Unit of the Davao City Police Office made a clean sweep of the bus with bomb sniffing dogs but failed to find anything explosive.
Police Chief Jaime Morente said they would be conducting a thorough investigation on the incident as it has caused not only fear but also greatly disrupted the flow of traffic and business in the city.
It was not clear who got the information about the alleged bomb.
Morente also called upon the people to remain vigilant amid the trying times. He said it is only with the cooperation and vigilance of the people that immediate response can be provided. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
