Capitol earns P5M from quarry in 5 days By Marna H. Dagumboy
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga Governor Eddie Panlilio announced that the Provincial Government was able to collect P5 million from quarry operations in just five days.
During Saturday's launching of Moringa/Malunggay Project, a pilot plantation in Barangay Babo Pangulu in Porac town, Panlilio said he did not expect the province to collect this much and this early and added "there is money in quarry."

However, Panlilio failed to explain that the new system imposed by his administration allow quarry operators to pay for sand and gravel in advance before they even haul these to their clients.
Although there is no doubt that the provincial treasury has collected P5 million, a source at Capitol's Provincial Licensing Department explained the sand and gravel, paid for in advance, may not be utilized within five days.
Records of the licensing department showed the P5 million-revenue collection from quarry represented an average of 3,333 truckloads of sand per day.
Based on existing regulations governing quarry operations, 50 percent of the P300 fee per truckload will go to the national government coffers to cover administrative costs while the province, municipality, and barangay will share the remaining 50 percent. The breakdown of the 50 percent is as follows: province (30 percent), municipality (30 percent), and barangay (40 percent). (Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
