Zamboanga: City assists fire victims (9:35 p.m.)

THE Zamboanga City Government continues to fulfill its commitment to social services as it distributed Tuesday cash assistance to victims of a fire that hit numerous barangays on different occasions the past months.

City Administrator Elias Enriquez led in the distribution of almost P70,000 cash to 14 families during a simple ceremony held at the City Hall conference room.

City Social Welfare Officer Francisco Barredo, whose office is in charge of facilitating the release of the amount, said the cash help is purposely to help alleviate the plight of the fire victims.

The amount distributed was based on the extent of the damage suffered by each family. A house owner is entitled to P5,000 cash assistance, a house renter or sharer gets P3,000 while a house boarder is entitled to P1,500. (SEC/Sunnex)
