5 killed, 2 injured in Diwalwal slide By Ben O. Tesiorna
DAVAO CITY -- Five people were confirmed dead while two others were injured when a landslide hit the gold-rush mountain of Diwalwal on Monday evening.
Diwalwal village chief Franco Tito said the landslide happened around 7:30 p.m. in Purok 2 in Barangay Ngan.

He said three houses were destroyed by the slide.
The fatalities were identified as Ralph Soldia, Rosemarie Mamaril, 16, and her live-in partner Roderick Cabaluna, Marlito Bordios, and Tata Rosales.
Rescuers already retrieved the bodies of Soldia, Bordios, and Mamaril from the rubble and were still digging for two others as of Tuesday. Mamaril was said to be three months pregnant.
Two residents--Gilbert and Jimmy Barrera--also sustained minor injuries and they were identified as Gilbert and Jimmy Barrera.
Elements of the Army's 28th Infantry Battalion, along with the provincial rescue team, are still conducting retrieval operations as of Tuesday.
Residents in the area meanwhile are urged to remain alert for more possible landslides.
Monday's slide was said triggered by a sudden and heavy downpour around 7 p.m.
