Dapitan jovial over Arroyo’s Sona on its tourism potential (9:55 p.m.)
DAPITAN, Zamboanga del Norte -- The local government and private sector are pooling resources to make this city as the tourism capital of the region, in response to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address (Sona), which mentioned Dapitan and its tourism potentials.
The local government is putting in place the necessary infrastructure utilizing its meager resources while the private sector is pouring millions of pesos investments to lure local and foreign tourists into the city all year round.
Mayor Dominador Jalosjos Jr. said they are developing phase-by-phase the landing site of “our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal” where he landed over hundred years ago when exiled to this city.
Jalosjos said the construction of Rizal’s landing site has recently started and that the local government has already spent P3 million. (Sunnex)
