Marine banned from airline over bomb jokes By Ben Serrano Caraga Correspondent
BUTUAN CITY -- A member of the Philippine Marines has now been banned for life from boarding any Cebu Pacific flights in Butuan City after making bomb jokes at the airport here Friday.
The office of the Northern Mindanao Police for Aviation Security identified the Marine as Private First Class Jovane Mag-abo Ticano, a resident of Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR), Agusan del Norte and a member of the First Philippine Marine Battalion based in Basilan.

Aviation Security personnel said when Ticano's luggage was about to be loaded on the Cebu Pacific flight bound for Manila about noon of July 27, personnel at the departure counter asked Ticano about the contents of his luggage.
Ticano replied jokingly it has explosive materials like a hand grenade inside.
This prompted Cebu Pacific Airline personnel to seek assistance from the Aviation Security Group stationed at the airport to inspect the luggage of Ticano.
But they did not find any explosive material inside.
This prompted the Cebu Pacific Airlines management at the airport to not let Ticano board the flight for Manila.
An advisory sent by the Cebu Pacific Airlines management to the Police Aviation Security office said Ticano is further banned from boarding any future flights of Cebu Pacific at the Butuan City Airport.
It was not reported whether charges were filed against Ticano.
Two Filipino movie actors--John Estrada and Jay Manalo--were arrested also for cracking bomb jokes before airport personnel. Corresponding charges were filed against them. (Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro/Sunnex)
