Pampanga: 2 'robbers' killed in shootout (10:19 p.m.)

TWO members of the robbery group Baliti Gang were killed after they engaged Arayat and Pampanga Provincial Mobile Group policemen in a shootout in Barangay Baliti in the town Sunday night.

Pampanga Police Provincial Director Keith Ernald Singian identified the fatalities as Virgilio Oronce and Dennis Bungke, both residents in the area.

Their colleagues in the group -- Jose Macasaquit, Jonel Ocampo, Benedicto Cuson, Wilmark Pineda, Bernie Martin, Harrison de Leon, and a 16-year-old boy -- were arrested after the gunfight.

The suspects are alleged members of the group responsible for a series of robbery-holdups and carjackings in the area. (Marna H. Dagumboy of Sun.Star Pampanga)
