Dengue claims 4 lives in N. Oriental (8:25 p.m.)
DUMAGUETE CITY -- The dengue virus has claimed another life in Negros Oriental, records from the Department of Health (DOH) showed.
Dr. Socrates Villamor of the health department said Monday the Epidemiology Surveillance Unit of the DOH in the province has recorded 347 cases since January 1 with four deaths.
Records also showed that the latest victim is a four-year-old girl from Mabinay.
The victim, Lensey Dawn Enrera, died recently at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.
The first death was recorded on January, a six-year-old boy from Bacong town, followed by the death of a five-year-old girl on February from Buñao, Dumaguete City and the three-year-old girl from Basay in June.
In Negros Oriental, Dumaguete City recorded the most number of cases with 91 since January this year of the 347 cases for the entire region.
The town of Sibulan followed with 52 cases, Tanjay with 37 cases, Siaton with 28 cases, and Bacong with 26 cases. (Victor L. Camion of Sun.Star Dumaguete)
