Southern Mindanao Police Regional Director Andres Caro, regional identified the fatalities as Avelino Cayetano, Romani Cayetano, Annie Carreon, Angelito Carreon Jr., Joey Carreon, and Aiza Carreon.

Rescuers also recovered the body of 12-year-old girl Geraline Cayetano Monday afternoon.

The Office of the Civil Defense in Davao said four of the fatalities were children whose homes were covered with mud when a portion of the mountain collapsed.

The Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, and workers from Apex Mining jointly conducted the search and rescue operation which was immediately launched Monday after the landslide.

Maco experienced heavy downpour for the past few days which could have caused the landslide aside from it being a mining area.

Another landslide was reported early evening Monday, nobody was reported injured.

Residents leaving near the mountain that collapsed were ordered evacuated as rescue operations continued.

Three more landslides were reported early Monday evening. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
