DUMAGUETE CITY -- Capitol officials is strongly pursuing the massive planting of coconut trees in the whole province with the “Plant Now, Pay Later” program spearheaded by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA).

During the term of then Governor George Arnaiz, Capitol extended around P3 million for the implementation which was used for the purchase of seed nuts, handling, shipment and maintenance.

PCA Provincial Manager Brendan Trasmonte said around P2.7 million pesos were already spent for the acquisition of more than 140,000 seed nuts. Further, PCA was able to get back almost a million pesos cash with another P1.5 million as collectibles.

Trasmonte is now waiting for the arrival of additional 92,000 seed nuts for the second round of its replanting program. (Edmund Sestoso/Sunnex)
