Council junks STL operation in Baguio (10:20 p.m.)
BAGUIO CITY -- Attempts to open a small-town lottery (STL) in Baguio City failed after the City Council denied the application of four operators.
The council unanimously approved the committee on laws' recommendation to deny the applications of Green2 Corporation, D' New Ace Builders, Joecalf Amusement Corporation, and Sumikadan ti Cordillera Gaming Corporation to operate an STL in consonance with Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr.'s pronouncement that any form of gambling should not be allowed in Baguio.
The committee also recommended to Bautista and the Baguio police chief to employ all means to stop the operation of jueteng and other forms of illegal gambling. (Rimaliza Opiņa of Sun.Star Baguio)
