Found in Guisilon's possession were three rounds of 60mm mortars and electronic tools.
During interrogation, Guisilon said an IED was already deployed at a fruit stand section in the Tacurong public market.
In a follow-up operation, two hours after the suspect's arrest, authorities recovered the bomb composed of two pounds TNT (trinitrotoluene), an improvised blasting cap, mortar booster, nine volts battery and a concrete nail.
Nobody was hurt as the bomb was safely detonated.
Last Thursday, eleven people were reportedly injured in two separate grenade blasts that rocked a residential area in Cotabato City and in a town in North Cotabato.
The suspect, Christopher Musota, 26, resident of Barangay Gambudes, Arakan Valley was immediately arrested after he lobbed a fragmentation grenade at a group of residents celebrating the village's fiesta, around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Musota tried to toss another grenade but somebody from the group attempted to stop him causing the explosive to get thrown into a fishpond, reports said.
In Cotabato City, a policeman and his wife were wounded when a still unidentified person threw a grenade at their home Thursday morning.
Authorities recovered fragments of a Russian-made fragmentation grenade from the crime scene. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star General Santos. (August 19, 2007 issue) Write letter to the editor. Click here. Join the Sun.Star message board. Click here. |
