Two houses owned by Renato and Jimmy Badaran were swept away in sitio Tinago, while four houses were destroyed in neighboring sitio Bugak owned by Peter Calinawan, Idefonso Atupan Sr., and Romeo and Temestocles Sanopao.
Twenty-six other houses are built along the river and their owners refused at first to vacate until they were ordered to do so by Bansalan Mayor Edwin Reyes.
The riverside residents are sheltered at the municipal gym.
The mayor's office and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have already given food assistance to the victims.
Most of the affected families have infants in their houses but not one resident was hurt.
The Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council is currently checking the place for an estimate on the cost of damage.
Representative Mark Cagas (1st district, Davao del Sur) assured he would push for a budget for the construction of a dike in the area.
