Dengue claims 3 lives in Zambo (9:38 p.m.)
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Three persons died from suspected dengue fever while more than a dozen others were recently downed by the disease spread by mosquitoes in Zamboanga City, a health official disclosed.
City Health Officer (CHO) Rodel Agbulos said the fatalities included a 44-year-old resident of Sta. Barbara and two others from the west coast barangays of Ayala and Patalon.
CHO records showed that more than 20 cases of dengue were recorded this week in the city, according to Agbulos.
However, the health official said the number of cases is still lower compared to dengue incidents in previous months.
He urged residents and village officials to help maintain cleanliness in their respective localities. (Bong Garcia and Sheila E. Covarrubias)
