Prosecutor Al Calica, head of the DOJ's special task force on anti-terrorism, issued on Thursday the resolution dismissing the charges against Kule Mamagong, a farmer from Carmen, North Cotabato, who was arrested by the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindandao (Armm) police in January 2007.
Calica said Mamagong was released for lack of evidence linking him to the October 10, 2005 bombing in Makilala town in North Cotabato.
Mamagong has also shown proof he was not the Kule Mamagong that authorities alleged as the leader of the group that led the bloody attack.
Among those papers he presented to the prosecution was a document stating that his real identity or name is Oting Mariano and not Kule Mamagong.
On Thursday, Calica filed in court a motion to dismiss the charges filed against Mamagong.
Mariano was arrested by elements of the Police Regional Office in the Armm on January 3, 2007 while he was selling agricultural products inside a public market in Carmen.
Authorities said Mariano is a look-alike of Mamagong. (Sun.Star General Santos/Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Zamboanga. (September 22, 2007 issue) Write letter to the editor. Click here. Join the Sun.Star message board. Click here. |
