Zamboanga: Offensive against Sayyafs continues but ‘selective’ (10:30 p.m.)
By Bong Garcia

ZAMBOANGA--Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff Hermogenes Esperon Jr. revealed that government troops find it difficult to locate the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf bandits in southern Philippines, as they splinter into small groups and the offensive operation made “selectively.”

Esperon said the offensive against the bandits is done selectively to ensure there will be no collateral damage, affecting the innocent civilians and disrupt the month of fast.

But he emphasized that the offensive will not stop until the remaining Abu Sayyaf leaders will be neutralized. (Sunnex)
