Lawmaker urged colleague to sue cosmetic surgeon (4:45 p.m.)
MANILA--A party-list lawmaker urged a lady colleague, who was a victim of medical malpractice by an alleged famous beauty clinic, to speak up and help Congress craft a law protecting patrons of cosmetic surgeons.
Anak Mindanao Representative Mujiv Hataman said he was saddened by the story of his colleague who reportedly almost got killed in a liposuction procedure after the doctor failed to administer prior laboratory test to determine if the patient is fit for the procedure.
The unnamed lady legislator allegedly underwent liposuction before March 29.
It was only then that she discovered that she was two months pregnant when the liposuction was performed on her.
Medical procedures require female patients to undergo pregnancy tests on all women prior to the surgery. The procedure will be automatically cancelled if the patient is found to be pregnant.(RPP/Sunnex) |
