3rd Oro resident slain outside city (8:58 p.m.)

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Yet another person was added to the growing list of Cagayan de Oro residents murdered outside of the city even as the regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said it would coordinate with authorities on this case.

According to CIDG-Northern Mindanao official Inspector Jun Yape, the victim identified as Eldie Abejo was gunned down by a fellow painter identified only as a certain "Mama" in Maguing town, Lanao del Sur at 6 a.m. last October 3.

The assailant was supposedly arrested by authorities a day after the killing.

Abejo's murder occurred less than a month after another Cagayan de Oro resident, Eldie Caingin, was gunned down by still unidentified assailants near the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) also in Marawi City.

In late August, a Chinese-Filipino trader named Samson Hau was found dead at a remote barangay in Iligan City following days of disappearance. (Stephen Capillas of Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro)
