Police: Kidapawan blasts not linked to Pikit bomb try By Malu Cadeliña Manar
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- A top police official in North Cotabato said the foiled bombing in a nearby Muslim-dominated town has nothing to do with the twin blasts last Friday that rocked this city.
Sr. Supt. Lester Camba, North Cotabato police director, said the rifle grenade discovered by local police in Pikit town on Saturday morning was not attached to any gadget that would trigger a blast.

"The bomb was just meant to sow fear among the local residents but it has no connections, whatsoever, to the Friday blasts in Kidapawan City," Camba said.
The grenade, placed inside a plastic bag, was left by still unidentified person in one of the market stalls inside Pikit's public market, around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Camba was reacting to reports that military intelligence officials in North Cotabato were convinced that the foiled bombing in Pikit was related to Friday's twin bomb explosions that rocked Kidapawan City.
Bomb experts from the Explosives and Ordnance Disposal Team of the Philippine Army managed to defuse the explosive, fashioned from a live rifle grenade.
Sources from the Army's intelligence community said the supposed bombing of the public market could be related to the Friday's bombing in Kidapawan City, which left an eight-year-old child dead and caused serious injuries to 36 others, mostly high school and college students. (Sun.Star Davao)
