Davao: Nogie to JDV: Don’t sleep with the enemies (2 p.m.) By Ben O. Tesiorna
DAVAO CITY -- Representative Prospero Nograles (1st district, Davao City) has one advise to Speaker Jose de Venecia amidst the controversy surrounding them and the speakership -- do not sleep with the enemy.
In an interview in Davao City Thursday, Nograles said in his last conversation with the Speaker, he reminded him how the opposition treated them during the last impeachment complaint filed against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“The opposition cursed us and burned our effigies. Now on the possibility that JDV would side with the opposition, I think we are too seasoned a politician and too smart to fall for that crap,” Nograles said.
The former House Majority Leader said if ever their will be a change in leadership in the House it will be “no-contest fight” since they have prior agreement that in any case of a leadership revamp the one who would be replacing JDV would still have to come from Lakas being the dominant political party in Congress.
“And only when JDV agrees. If not, no Lakas member will challenge him. Yan ang usapan namin sa administration party,” Nograles said.
When asked if he is really eyeing the Speaker post, Nograles admitted such saying that the same is true to all members of Congress and not just him.
Asked if he talked with JDV after the reports of the plan of Malacañang to oust JDV and replace him with Nograles came out in the paper earlier this week, Nograles said he had not.
He said though that he is willing to discuss the matter with JDV if the Speaker calls for him.
“Ang style kasi ni JDV is magpapatawag yan pang kelangan nya pag-usapan ang problema at hindi yung basta basta kaming pumupunta sa kanya. If he will call for me then I will come,” Nograles said. (Sun.Star Davao) |
