Dumaguete: Authorities clear drivers linked to hold-up (8:18 p.m.)

DUMAGUETE CITY -- The Traffic Management Office (TMO) and Philippine National Police (PNP) cleared four drivers of motor-cab-for-hire who have been linked to hold-up incidents in Dumaguete City.

Text messages have warned the public to be wary of motor-cab-for-hire vehicles, locally known as pedicabs, with plate numbers 0144, 1315, 0120, and 1678 as drivers of these pedicabs are allegedly hold-uppers.

The TMO, in its investigation, however, disclosed that the four drivers of pedicabs are not linked to crimes and two of them are in fact set to receive an award for honesty.

Osting Patron of the TMO, deputized by Land Transportation Office (LTO), clarified that text messages circulated against the drivers are unfair and malicious.

TMO Operation officer Danilo Atillo told media that drivers Francis Tolomia, Vivencio Otor, Richard Sardan, and Bonifacio Bios, voluntarily came to their office to clear their names, upon learning of text messages tagging them as hold-up men. (Victor L. Camion/Sunnex)
