Another blast victim dies in hospital (2:16 p.m.)

MANILA -- One of the over a hundred people injured in last Friday's deadly blast at a popular shopping mall in Makati's financial district died Sunday at the hospital.

Dr. Victor Tapco of the Ospital ng Makati (Osmak) said 24-year-old Ricardo Betras succumbed to his injuries at 2:23 a.m. Sunday.

His death brings to 11 the total number of those killed in the powerful explosion in Glorietta, which authorities said was caused by a bomb made from high-grade explosives.

Makati first district Councilor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay said Betras sustained multiple blast injuries on different parts of his body, particularly at the stomach and liver, leading to complications.

Hospital personnel said the victim suffered massive loss of blood due to his injuries but Tapco said they will still conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. (AH/Sunnex)
