Dumaguete: Provincial board tasked to resolve boundary disputes (5:30 p.m.) By Edmund B. Sestoso
DUMAGUETE--Members of the Sangguniang Panglalawigan through its Committee on Rules had been tasked by the lower counterpart local legislative body to resolve the boundary disputes between the towns of Manjuyod, Bindoy, and Ayungon.
The Bindoy town legislative council said that for almost six years, the Sanggunian Panglalawigan had not resolved the issue causing tension and confusion especially on the delivery of infrastructure and basic services to the said areas.
In year 2000, the Bindoy town local government had not accepted the cadastral survey by the local Department of Environment and Natural Resources claiming that it was erroneous as the survey diminished and reduced the town’s territory in the southern portion bounded by Manjuyod and Ayungon town in the northern portion.
They also said that the survey did not put also into considerations Executive Order 228 which defines the territorial component of then Payabon town now known as Bindoy. (Sunnex) |
