Solons to establishments: upgrade security measures (5:20 p.m.)

MANILA--Various establishments were urged Saturday to upgrade and seriously review their security measures following Friday’s bloody explosion at the Glorietta Mall in Makati City that left 11 people dead and almost 100 others injured.

Leyte Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Aurora Representative Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara and Anak Mindanao Representative Mujiv Hataman stressed that the incident has clearly indicated the vulnerability of the country to terror attacks.

“We have to be consistent all the times in implementing strict security measures. Hindi iyung mahigpit ngayon tapos bukas hindi na at muling maghihigpit tuwing may threats at nangyaring pagsabog,” said Romualdez who expressed condolences to the relatives of the victims who perished and wounded in the blast.

Angara also shared the observation of Romualdez, adding that malls, public mass transportation like the Light Railways Transit (LRT), Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and others should invest in acquiring special trained-dogs, bomb and metal detectors. (RP/Sunnex)
