Palace unfazed by 'Erap support' for impeach raps v. Arroyo (6:55 p.m.)
MANILA--Malacañang dismissed the reported support of pardoned former President Joseph Estrada for a new impeachment bid against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, saying even the opposition knows its law.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita reminded the opposition Saturday that they will have to wait another year as an impeachment complaint has already been initiated in the Lower House.
"We all know Congress follows this law. If an impeachment complaint has already been initiated before the committee on justice, no other complaint can be filed until one year later," Ermita said on government-run dzRB radio.
He noted that lawyer Rafael Pulido already filed an impeachment complaint last October 5 and that this had already been transmitted to the committee on justice.
Still, the opposition said it is filing another complaint on Monday, when Congress resumes session after a one-month recess.(JMR/Sunnex)
