Zamboanga: Troops recover body of slain bandits in Basilan (8:40 p.m.)
By Bong Garcia

ZAMBOANGA—Government forces tracking down a group of fleeing Abu Sayyaf bandits recovered bodies of two slain bandits in the hinterland of Basilan province, the military said Saturday.

The Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) reported that the two slain bandits were part of the group of Abu Sayyafs that figured in a clash with the troops in the town of Lantawan.

During the clash, one bandit was reported killed. The recovery of the two bodies brings to three the number of slain bandits.

The Westmincom reported that the remains of the other two bandits were recovered Thursday while the troops were conducting clearing operations and tracking down the fleeing bandits. (Sunnex)
