Blast wounds 2 in Cotabato City By Malu Cadelina Manar
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Two teenagers were wounded when a fragmentation grenade exploded in a commercial district in Cotabato City, some 180 kilometers north of this city, at around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Injured were Muhammad Sidik, 16, and Anwarudin Kasan, 17, both residents of SK Pendatun Extension in Cotabato City.

Reports from the Cotabato City police said the victims, including a still unidentified person, were seated in a tricycle parked along Quezon Avenue and SK Pendatun Street when the PRV 75 fragmentation grenade went off.
Sidik and Kasan, seated at the back of the tricycle, were hit, while the other one seated in front was spared.
Cotabato City police chief Willy Dangane believed the blast was an accident and was not a terror-related attack.
Initial investigation revealed that one of the victims could have carried the explosive and while they were playing with it, one of them removed the pin and accidentally dropped it.
Also, based on the testimonies of the witnesses, not one saw a person toss a grenade at the victims.
Dangane said he has already ordered a thorough investigation to check if someone hurled the grenade or if either of the victims was playing with it resulting in an accidental explosion.
The area where the explosion took place is not far from where an improvised explosive device went off last January 10, killing on the spot a garbage collector and wounding five others. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
