House committee to approve impeachment dismissal
MANILA -- The House committee on justice is scheduled to approve its committee report Monday afternoon junking the impeachment complaint filed against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Quezon City third district Rep. Matias Defensor, chairman of the committee, said the hearing is only for "procedural purposes" so that the recommendation by the panel can be sent to the House committee on rules for plenary action by Wednesday this week.

Defensor said the committee report would be presented to the members of the House of Representatives for their affirmation or rejection.
"Tomorrow (Monday), the members of the committee are set to approve the report to prepare it for plenary debates by Wednesday. After this, we can focus more on priority legislative measures," said Defensor.
Citizens' Battle Against Corruption party-list Rep. Joel Villanueva said members of the opposition would not participate in what he described as a tainted process.
"We are consistent, we will not participate in the debates," said Villanueva.
Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman said the House is now in the finishing touches to finally kill the Pulido complaint. (AH/Sunnex)
