US ambassador lauds MMDA for keeping Manila clean, orderly (1:55 p.m.)
MANILA -- United States Ambasssador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney visited Monday the main office of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and praised its personnel for maintaining cleanliness and order in Metro Manila.
Accompanied by several officials from the US Embassy in Manila, Kenney was welcomed by MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando, general manager Robert Nacianceno, Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Marikina Mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando, Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga, Mandaluyong Mayor, League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) president Benhur Abalos and General Rodolfo Diaz who represented Manila mayor Alfredo Lim.
Addressing the agency's employees during the flag-raising ceremony, the US envoy said she has heard and seen the "wonderful" job that the MMDA is doing especially in keeping Metro Manila clean.
"Today is my big chance to express my thanks to you. We see you on the streets maintaining traffic and helping this great, great city become a wonderful and vibrant city," Kenney said. (AH/Sunnex) |
