2 bombs found in Digos school
DAVAO CITY -- Two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered inside two separate buildings of the Digos City National High School at around 10 a.m. Monday.
Police later arrested a student suspected of having placed the devices in order to start a simultaneous fire.

The suspect reportedly wanted to burn the buildings thinking that records of those that had been caught selling marijuana were being kept in these buildings.
Investigators refused to release the suspect's name pending completion of the investigation.
Police said the bombing devices were equipped with timing fuse and several 1-liter softdrink bottles full of gasoline designed to explode simultaneously. The device was capable of wiping out the whole school building.
The IEDs were discovered by a janitor who immediately reported the matter to Dr. Concepcion Cadungog, the school principal.
A bomb disposal unit of the Philippine Army led by Sergeant Jose Consejo promptly responded upon receiving a report from the school.
Consejo recommended immediate evacuation of the building.
All the students and staff members were sent home as Consejo's team scoured the building for more bombs possibly planted in other parts of the structure.
There were more than 8,000 students ordered out of the school premises who followed the order calmly.
Another bomb disposal unit, this time from the army team, helped in combing the building for more bombs.
The Digos City Fire Department led by City Fire Marshal Superintendent Desimoso Remoroza also sent a team to assist the police and army teams.
Buildings of the national high school were constructed in the 1960's and are mostly made of lumber. (Sun.Star Davao/With a report from Emmanuel C. Causing)
