DepEd says classes on despite transport strike (9:50 p.m.)

MANILA -- The Department of Education (DepEd) announced Wednesday that there will be classes at the elementary and secondary level nationwide despite the announcement of a nationwide transport strike in protest of the unabated oil hikes and the Oil Deregulation Law.

DepEd Public Information Office made the announcement late Wednesday afternoon while authorities are setting in motion preparation for the transport strike by the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (PISTON).

The announcement said that all queries should be addressed to DepEd Undersecretary Ramon Bacani. (AH/Sunnex)
