Riot breaks out at Misa de Gallo By Rhodamae M. Hernandez
DAVAO CITY -- A gang riot broke out just outside the San Pedro Cathedral on the first day of Misa de Gallo in San Pedro Cathedral Sunday.
As policemen arrived to arrest the troublemakers, the young men rushed inside the church to evade arrest.

"These young thugs have no respect for the Church. You'd know they were out for trouble because they were armed," Police Inspector Max Atuel, deputy station commander of the San Pedro police station, said in an interview.
Only two of the gangsters involved in the riot were arrested by the police.
Detained at the San Pedro Police station were Ian Toledo, who hails from Panabo and who is a transient resident of Bankerohan where he is working as a laborer, and John Vincent Constaños, a resident of Ma-a, Davao City.
Police officer Victor Malicay, one of the policemen who arrested the suspects, said they were not far from the church when the incident happened.
"The riot happened right by the gate of the church. When we approached, they ran to the church. We couldn't chase them since this will disrupt the mass," Malicay said.
Toledo and Constaños were arrested inside the church's compound.
Recovered from Toledo was an improvised handgun with M16 ammunition.
Malicay was wounded on his left hand when the incident happened.
"I was wounded in the struggle because they resisted arrest," Malicay said.
Police authorities will be filing charges against the suspects Monday. (With RCO/Sun.Star Davao)
