Guv wishes for reconciliation in 2008 By Ian Ocampo Flora
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Governor Eddie Panlilio said recently that his administration has started offering the hand of reconciliation to his detractors.
Panlilio made the pronouncement during the press conference cum Christmas party sponsored by the Capitol at the Benigno Aquino Hall in this city.

This has been one of Panlilio's foremost wishes for the coming year.
When asked about his other concerns for the year, Panlilio gave a litany of priorities focusing more on social services.
"So far yun na muna kasi mahirap ang mangako ng marami baka hindi matupad," Panlilio remarked. (I don't want to promise a lot of things that I will have difficulty fulfilling.)
Next in Panlilio's line of wishes include the strengthening of quarry collection in the province. The governor also announced that the coming year would be a great blessing for homeless families as the provincial government has solidified ties with Gawad Kalinga, a cause-oriented organization, in providing low cost housing to marginalized sectors.
He said Lubao town would be the first to benefit since officials of the Philippine National Bank (PNB) had recently donated a parcel of land for the project.
Panlilio also sponsored the press conference to answer the various concerns and issues plaguing his administration, chief of which was the issue regarding the Hizons and his administration.
Panlilio said they are trying to fix the problem and did not dismiss the possibility that the issue may well be just a case of miscommunication. He further gave the assurance that the coming year would see the desilting of the Gugu creek through measures undertaken by the provincial government to desilt the downstream area through commercial quarrying.
Despite the pre-announcement of the press conference, most media attendees noticed the glaring absence of many media practitioners. Panlilio did not, however, hide his emotion over the matter saying that he "missed" most of the media men who were not present.
"Nakakalungkot na wala yung iba, I miss yung mga dating kasama natin," Panlilio added. (It's sad that they're not here. I miss my former companions.)
The local media, as most observers say, had a "falling out" with Panlilio's administration at the start of the governor's term when some media members were allegedly barred from covering an event in his inauguration.
Nevertheless, Panlilio added he is optimistic that relationships would improve for the better in the coming year.
"We are trying and we will continue to try," Panlilio said when asked on how he will proceed with mending his relationship with media. (Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
