MASANTOL -- Two persons, including a 12-year-old boy, died while at least 10 others were wounded due to electrocution in a religious fluvial parade in Barangay Alauli last Sunday afternoon.
One of the fatalities, Jessie Ambrosio, 32, married, of Alauli village, was hailed as a hero for saving other lives. Witnesses said he was able to save at least three children before he died of drowning.

The other fatality is a young boy whose identity was not yet established Monday afternoon.
Vice Mayor Bajun Lacap said the "pagoda" hit the 13,800 kilovolts primary line of Pampanga Electric Cooperative that crosses the Pampanga River.
Lacap said the fluvial parade is done annually by local folk here, especially those living in coastal areas of the town who ask through the event for intercessions from their patron for good life all year round.
Lacap said the injured persons who suffered burns in different parts of their bodies were rushed to nearby hospitals of Macabebe, Apalit, City of San Fernando, and Bulacan.
The Pampanga Provincial Police Office identified the injured as Mariz Cariño, Rea Cristel Navarro, Joshua Torres, Aldrin Torno, Justin Caparas, Louie Castillo, Gerald Castillo, Rochelle Sarmiento, Jerome Dumalos, and Ariel Torno.
Lacap said the parade, which they called "Labas Larawan," is one of the big occasions in their place where hundreds of local folk ride the "pagoda" where the image of the patron saint is mounted.
Aside from the big pagoda, there were about 20 smaller boats that joined those riding the lead boat in prayer and merry-making.
Mayor Peter Flores meantime said the local government unit will shoulder the burial expenses of the victims and will also assist the injured persons. (Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
