Davao mayor has info on radioman's slay
By Ben O. Tesiorna

DAVAO CITY -- Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he has "detailed information" on the death of veteran broadcaster Fernando "Batman" Lintuan who was shot dead by two armed men on December 24.

Duterte in an earlier interview said he has more information than the investigating body created by the government to look into Lintuan's murder.

However the mayor is not keen on giving the information to authorities since he is considered as one of the suspects.

"Sabi ko naman sa inyo na dito sa Davao, malalaman at malalaman ko (As I told you, here in Davao I will know things eventually). I know what really happened to Lintuan," Duterte said.

The mayor said he is just waiting for some individuals to formally accuse him over Lintuan's death before divulging the information he has.

"Inaantay ko lang na akusahan nila ako ( I am just waiting for them to charge me) the I will make public all the information I have in hand," Duterte said.

During the interview, Duterte however requested Sun.Star to keep the story under wraps to avoid being accused of withholding information that might lead to the solution of the case.

Duterte however made the same statement when interviewed by other journalists.

Duterte has long been denying any hand in the death of Lintuan even if Lintuan accused him of anomaly over the People's Park.

The mayor said he is not that fool to have Lintuan liquidated when he well know that he will be the primary suspect.

He added that he will not kill a journalist who had been helping him check anomalies in the government.

Sun.Star tried asking Task Force Batman head Senior Superintendent Benhur Mongao if they would formally request Duterte to divulge information regarding Lintuan' s murder but Mongao did not respond to the query. (BOT of Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
