CEBU CITY -- Seventeen passengers were injured when two passenger jeeps bound for Cebu City collided at the corner of Sergio Osmena Avenue at the North Reclamation Area Sunday noon.

The passengers mostly women and children are supposed to go to the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino to light a candle and to attend mass but were instead rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

A passenger jeep from Lapu-Lapu City with 32 passengers turned turtle and was thrown several meters away when it was hit by a passenger jeep from Mandaue City.

The driver of the passenger jeep from Mandaue City fled after the collision and later surrendered to the Cebu City Mobile Office. (Sunnex)
