Ayala Land cleared over Glorietta blast
MANILA -- Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. cleared Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) of any liabilities for the Glorietta 2 blast in October 19 that killed at least 11 and injured several others.
Gonzalez said while ALI may have own the mall, it was the Ayala Property Management Corp. (APMC) which actually handles the operations including the hiring of groups to maintain the shopping mall.

Asked if the APMC or anyone from them would be liable, Gonzalez said: "We are still looking because the records in the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) about the APMC appears that almost all of the members of the directors of Ayala Property are just there as nominal members."
The justice secretary said they are still looking at the people who are really in control and managing the company.
"I don't want to telegraph the findings that we have now but it will come out. But I can say that Ayala Land Inc. is not involved here," he added.
Gonzalez said he would release the justice department's finding within the week.
At least three persons, he said, could be added to the initial 15 that were identified by the police to be charged with cases ranging from criminal negligence and gross neglect of duty to violations of the fire code for the Glorietta 2 blast. (VR/Sunnex)
