Marine sets up detachment in Tabawan Island By Bong Garcia
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) has set up a detachment in the island of Tabawan, South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi to allay fears and ensure the safety of the people in the area.
The people have become fearful that lawless elements will strike Tabawan Island again after alleged Abu Sayyaf bandits killed Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) priest Fr. Jesus Reynaldo Roda.

Fr. Roda, 54, was killed when he resisted the attempt of some 10 gunmen to kidnap him last January 15 at the Notre Dame High School campus in Tabawan Island.
Rear Admiral Emilio Marayag Jr., NFWM chief, said the detachment is manned by troops from the Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT) 2 based in the province of Tawi-Tawi.
Marayag said troops would also conduct patrol over the entire island, aside from manning the detachment.
Navy troops under Task Force 62 was also ordered to intensify patrol in the seas around the island and in nearby places to thwart lawless groups.
Manhunt continues against the killers of Fr. Roda, some of whom have already been identified. (Sunnex)
