Former MisOr mayor killed in Manila City Hall shooting (10:18 a.m.)

MANILA -- Former Sapang Lupa mayor Rey Yap was shot by unidentified gunmen at the Manila City Hall at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

An initial report said, one of the gunmen shot Yap of Sapang Lupa, Misamis Oriental province. The gunman also shot the bodyguard of Yap and an unidentified female in the fourth floor of the City hall.

Following the shooting incident, the unidentified assailants allegedly took hostages while inside an elevator.

However, there was still no exact count of hostages the assailants took inside the elevator.

According to reports, Yap was in Manila City hall to attend a hearing in Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 19.

The two gunmen were reportedly at the ground floor at this moment while authorities are trying to arrest them. (JRDB/Sunnex)
