3 killed, 27 hurt in GenSan explosion
MANILA -- A homemade bomb ripped through a fish processing plant in the southern Philippines on Wednesday, killing three and injuring 27 workers, officials said.
The blast in General Santos City occurred near the gate of the Philbest canning factory as workers were changing shift and many were milling around, police said.

Three people were killed and at least 27 injured and treated in hospitals, said Senior Superintendent Robert Po, the city's police chief.
The crude bomb, made from a mortar shell, was attached to a tricycle that was parked in front of the factory, where it usually picks up passengers, Po said.
He also said witnesses saw the driver leave before the blast.
Po said police were looking at the possibility the blast was linked to a labor dispute or an extortion attempt.
General Santos City, a bustling port on the main southern island of Mindanao, is about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) south of Manila.
In the past, the city has been hit by several bombings by suspected al-Qaeda-linked extremists. Extortion gangs also are active in the region. (AP)For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Iloilo.
